Network to Handle Two Weekend Programs for Classic Hits/Oldies Format
New York, NY – March 11, 2009 -- United Stations Radio Networks, Inc., (“USRN”) an independent leader in original network radio programming, today announced it will be handling the distribution of two programs hosted by radio legend Dick Bartley. The association reunites Bartley, a veteran of the syndication landscape, with United Stations, the brand under which Bartley’s national programming grew and thrived two decades ago. The announcement came from United Stations EVP/Programming Andy Denemark from the network’s New York City Headquarters.
The partnership between Dick Bartley’s DB Productions and USRN becomes effective April 1, 2009, and under the agreement the United Stations Radio Network will market and distribute Bartley's two long-running, weekend radio programs "Rock & Roll's Greatest Hits," a 5-hour request-based program that has traditionally aired on Saturday nights, and "The Classic Countdown Show," a 4-hour, theme-based program that recaps the hits that dominated the charts in various years or seasons. Together, these programs air on over 200 stations coast-to-coast.
Dick Bartley is a three-time winner of the Billboard Radio Award. He was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2000, and has previously produced and hosted programs for the RKO Radio Network, the Westwood One Radio Network, and the ABC Radio Network.
In making the announcement, USRN’s Andy Denemark added, “It’s not every day that a broadcaster as beloved and as talented as Dick Bartley becomes available, and we’re thrilled to be able to add his programs to our lineup.”
United Stations Radio Networks, Inc., is the nation’s leading independently owned and operated radio network. The company currently distributes and produces several format specific services to nearly 4500 rated radio stations across the country in every format. The New York-based radio network maintains additional offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Nashville and Washington, D.C., and the company was founded in 1994 by radio pioneers Dick Clark and Nick Verbitsky.
