Previously Independent Program Has Grown During Partnership with United Stations

New York, NY – October 15, 2008 -- United Stations Radio Networks, Inc., (USRN) an independent leader in the creation and marketing of network radio programming, is pleased to be joining Jeff Parets, the creator, producer and host of THE ACOUSTIC STORM, in commemorating that show’s 10th Anniversary on the air.   The program will celebrate its milestone broadcast with a thematic show featuring songs with titles and lyrics related to storms, including live, acoustic versions of Bruce Springsteen's "Thunder Road," the Scorpions' "Rock You Like a Hurricane" and James Taylor's "Fire and Rain."   Word of the anniversary and the special edition program came from United Stations EVP/Programming, Andy Denemark at the company's Headquarters in New York City.

The Acoustic Storm signed on the air Sunday morning, October 25, 1998 as a local show in Phoenix, Arizona, with the promise of delivering acoustic-based rock and unplugged versions of well-known songs in a concentrated block.  Parets, who was inspired by his time as Program Director of KSTM-FM which was also known as “The Storm,” created the concept for The Acoustic Storm as a weekly program that would help refresh and support the familiar recordings that were already staples of rock radio.  The Acoustic Storm went into national syndication in 2003 and began its marketing partnership with United Stations at the start of 2007.The Acoustic Storm now boasts nearly 90 affiliates coast-to-coast and it airs on several types of radio stations including Classic Rock, Classic Hits and Adult Hits formats.

Today, the show is available nationally as a three-hour weekend program with an optional two-hour version available) during which host/producer Parets presents the full spectrum of acoustic rock with an emphasis on acoustic guitar-driven songs.   Each week, the show also spotlights an artist in its “Eye of The Storm” segment featuring music, bio information and audio clips.  On the 10th anniversary edition of the show, being aired on October 25-26, 2008, Bob Dylan will be in that spotlighted segment.

Regarding the 10th Anniversary of The Acoustic Storm, host-creator Jeff Parets said, "This show has been a labor of love from the beginning, so to be doing it for ten years and to be presenting it in so many cities is truly gratifying.  It's amazing to see how many listeners are connecting with this brand of acoustic-rock.   I'd like to thank everyone that has supported The Acoustic Storm over the years, most notably all of our terrific affiliates."

The Acoustic Storm is just one of the offerings for the rock format from United Stations, and the network’s lineup includes Nights with Alice Cooper, Racing Rocks!, The Classics, The House of Hair and Morning Prep from The Pulse of Radio.  United Stations distributes and produces multiple format specific services to nearly 4500 rated radio stations in every major radio format.  The New York-based company was founded in 1994 by radio pioneers Dick Clark and Nick Verbitsky.
