Charlie Colombo, Executive Vice-President
Carl "Charlie" Colombo has been involved in the radio industry for over 30 years. Much of that time has been spent at the top management level of the radio representation field. Immediately prior to joining USRN in 1993, Colombo served six years as the President of Banner Radio. In the three years prior to that, he was President of Blair Radio. In the course of his career, Colombo has also been President of Cristal Radio and Executive Vice-President of Eastman Radio. At both those companies, Colombo was directly involved with the Wall Street Journal Reports, CNN Radio and London Wavelength. Colombo now oversees USRN's Launch Radio Networks.
David Kolin, Executive Vice-President/Comedy
David "Dr. Dave" Kolin was founder, director and President of DB Communications, Inc., a radio comedy service. That company was acquired and merged into USRN in 1993. Kolin, as he has done throughout an extensive radio career, writes and performs many of the comedy routines produced by the Company. Kolin also helps develop radio programming with third parties such as Comedy Central. Kolin also has several television credits, including being the writer and executive producer of Hardcore-TV, an HBO comedy series.
James M. Higgins, Executive Vice President/General Manager
Jim Higgins has been in the network radio business for over 20 years. Prior to joining USRN in September of 1995, Higgins was Senior Vice-President of Sales for the Westwood One Radio Networks. Higgins began his career as head of the market research department at RCA Records in New York. Higgins moved on to account management, spending four years at two major N. Y. based advertising agencies. Higgins then joined the Verbitsky/Clark team at United Stations/Unistar, where he was directly responsible for national sales for most of the programming. Higgins continued to oversee $130 million of sales at Westwood One and was the driving force behind the network reconfiguration into format specific targeted networks.
Andy Denemark, Executive Vice-President/Programming
Andy Denemark has been in radio programming for most of his career, which actually started at Ithaca's WVBR while he was attending Cornell University. Denemark later joined DIR Broadcasting, where he rose to the rank of Director of Station relations. In 1980, Denemark joined NBC Radio Networks in affiliate relations. Denemark held a number of executive positions at that company until it was acquired by Westwood One in1987. Denemark remained with Westwood, and served as Director of Programming until he joined USRN.
William F. Adams, Vice-President/Finance
Bill Adams began his career at Arthur Young & Co., one of the so called "Big 8." Adams gained his CPA in 1985. In 1987, Adams moved on to Bear, Stearns, where he was a Manager in both the Internal Audit and Government Securities Accounting Departments. Adams spent time as Director of Finance for Cooks Tools, Inc., a start up housewares company, and as Director of Finance for Leland's Collectibles, Inc., the country's premier sports memorabilia auction house. Adams has also been a part owner of a minor league baseball team.
Richard Silipigni, Senior Vice-President, Eastern Sales
A radio advertising sales veteran with over 25 years of experience, Dick began his career with New Yorks WCBS Newsradio 88. After rising to Director of Sales at WCBS, he joined CBS Radio Networks as Senior Vice President of Sales. Silipigni held this senior position for nearly a decade, overseeing network sales efforts for all CBS properties in addition to managing several of their regional sales offices. Dick continued in a senior sales capacity after the Westwood One and CBS Radio Networks merger for a number of years. In his role as Vice President, Eastern Sales, Silipigni is responsible for directing United Stations marketing strategy for its diversified properties, special events and promotional opportunities.
Richard Baum, Senior Vice-President Midwest, Southwest and Western Sales
Rich Baum, a Chicago native, joined United Stations in 1996 as Vice President, Midwest Sales. His career has included stints in New York City and Chicago with Westwood One in addition to running their Southwest office. With over a decade of ad sales experience, Baum quickly grew United Stations client business in the Midwest region and was promoted in 1999 to Vice President, Midwest/Southwest and Western Sales. In his new post as Senior Vice President, Rich will oversee the marketing and selling of the radio network's daily services and tremendous inventory of entertainment, comedy, sports/news/talk properties to advertisers and agencies.
Robert J. Pierce, Vice President - Affiliate Relations
Rob Pierce has over a decade of experience in the radio industry. Pierce began his career in the entertainment industry at Billboard magazine. Subsequently, he spent three years in Affiliate Relations at MJI Broadcasting. Pierce joined USRN in 1995 as an affiliate sales rep and a short time later was heading up the department.
Anne Martinez, Vice President - Western Sales
Anne Martinez has over a decade of experience in Southern California radio. She spent several years in local radio news and promotions before switching to network radio sales with Westwood One. After four years there, she joined United Stations in 1998 to open the Companys West Coast office.
Bobby Gailes, Director - Urban Programming
A seasoned radio professional with nearly two decades of programming, sales and on-air expertise, Bobby Gailes joined United Stations in 2000 as Director of Urban Programming. In this position, Gailes helps formulate and develop content and programming targeted at Urban audiences in addition to marketing it to radio stations and advertisers. Concurrently, Bobby serves as a Weekend on-air personality on two stations on the East Coast: WHUR-FM (96.3) in Washington, D.C. and WRKS-FM (KISS 98.7) in New York.
