25 YEARS OF HITS
JOINS THE LINEUP AT UNITED STATIONS RADIO NETWORKS
New York, NY – April 14, 2008 -- United Stations Radio Networks, Inc., (USRN) an independent leader in the creation and marketing of network radio programming, today announced that it has started distributing 25 YEARS OF HITS, the weekly program that provides Country radio stations with a “count-up” of #1 charting hits from the past quarter century. 25 YEARS OF HITS is the creation of California-based Cable Car Communications, Inc. and is hosted by KYGO/Denver’s Craig “Catfish” Hunter. United Stations EVP/Programming, Andy Denemark made this announcement today at the company's Headquarters in New York City.
25 YEARS OF HITS is a two-hour music intensive program that counts-up the top Country songs, featuring #1 hits in chronological order from 1983 to 2008. By doing so, the program cleverly weaves its way from the world of Classic Country and Country “Gold” into the world of today’s Contemporary Country hits. The fast-paced and highly-produced show, which is broadcast in most markets on weekends, began in 2005 and is now heard on 82 stations across America and on additional outlets in Canada. 25 YEARS OF HITS features artist interviews, production elements and feature segments making it a complete entertainment experience for its many loyal listeners.
The show’s host, Craig “Catfish” Hunter, is a nationally recognized air personality with over 30 years of major market broadcast experience from coast to coast in cities like Atlanta, Minneapolis, San Jose/San Francisco, St. Louis, Detroit and Boston. Hunter received the coveted A.I.R. award for best afternoon drive shift four consecutive years. He’s currently heard during afternoon drive on top rated KYGO 98-5 in Denver, Colorado, a recent winner of the NAB’s Marconi Radio Awards for Country Station and Large Market Station of the Year.
In making the announcement, USRN’s Denemark noted that “The Country format in particular is well-served by linking to its own heritage, and this show does a great job of bridging today’s Country with the legends. On top of that, 25 YEARS OF HITS simply brings to radio one of those bright ideas that makes you wonder why no one was doing it before!” Executive Producer Bob Utley added, “We’re thrilled United Stations wanted to dive into this project with us. We’ve built a great program as independent producers, but our new network partnership should take our 25 YEARS OF HITS brand to the next level of success.” USRN will handle radio affiliations and national ad sales for the program.
25 YEARS OF HITS joins United Stations other Country music properties including The Crook & Chase Countdown, The Road, Thunder Road, Country Giants and The American Christian Music Review. United Stations currently distributes and produces dozens of format-specific programs and services to nearly 4500 rated radio stations across the country including Adult Contemporary, Album Rock, Contemporary Hit, Country, Oldies, Smooth Jazz, Talk and Urban. The New York-based company was founded in 1994 by radio pioneers Dick Clark and Nick Verbitsky.
