Series Delivers Three Summer Holiday Specials for Classic Hits & Classic Rock
WBIG’s Scott Struber to Host
New York, NY – May 21, 2007 – United Stations Radio Networks, Inc., (USRN) an independent leader in the creation and marketing of network radio programming, today announced its lineup for a new series of Summer Holiday Specials targeted to the Classic Hits, Classic Rock and Adult Hits formats. This new series, produced in-house at United Stations, bears the title Classic Artist Profiles, and the series will be hosted by Afternoon Drive Personality Scott Struber from WBIG-FM (Big 100.3) in Washington, DC. The announcement was made by USRN’s EVP/Programming, Andy Denemark at the company’s New York headquarters.
USRN’s Classic Artist Profiles are music-intensive programs that deliver intimate, star-driven programming for affiliates and advertisers alike. The shows will utilize exclusive interview material side-by-side with hit songs to create “audio destinations” for audiences during the summer’s three major holidays: Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day. The exact schedule and talent listing for the 2007 installments of USRN’s new series of Classic Artist Profiles is as follows:
Memorial Day - Elton John - May 21 – 28, 2007
July 4th - The Eagles June 30 – July 8, 2007
Labor Day - Paul McCartney - August 27 – September 3
In announcing the specials, Denemark noted, “We created these shows as a response to affiliate demand. Holidays Specials seemed to be prevalent in a number of other formats, but Classic Hits stations weren’t being serviced. We love to produce and introduce new programming, but we especially like to do so when it’s by request.”
The series host, Scott Struber has been sharing his love of music with rock fans across the country. After being inspired by some of the great broadcasters in Chicago radio, Scott went pro behind the microphone. After helping create The Edge in Albuquerque, he moved on to San Diego's 91X, Chicago's WRCX, Miami's ZETA, and--being among the first programmers hired--created the Ethel & XMU alternative channels for XM Radio. Currently he's the APD at Clear Channel's WBIG (BIG 100.3) where he also hosts the afternoon “Drive Home” in the Nation's Capital.
This series of Classic Artist Profiles joins United Stations numerous other programs and services targeted to Classic Rock outlets and those include Nights with Alice Cooper, The Classics, The House of Hair, Racing Rocks! and The Acoustic Storm as well as Morning Prep from the Launch Radio Networks and various Comedy services. United Stations Radio Networks, Inc., is the nation's largest independently owned and operated radio network. The company currently distributes and produces multiple format specific services to over 4500 rated radio stations across the country including Adult Contemporary, Album Rock, Contemporary Hit, Country, Oldies, Smooth Jazz, Talk and Urban. The New York-based company was founded in 1994 by radio pioneers Dick Clark and Nick Verbitsky.
