August 17, 2010 -- United Stations Radio Networks, Inc., (USRN) an independent leader in original network radio programming, today announced the addition of Tom Sleeker to its staff as Affiliate Relations Manager.   Sleeker’s appointment is effective immediately and his focus is the expansion of Broadcast Architecture’s SMOOTH AC Networks™, which includes the newest innovation in adult radio formats “SMOOTH AC”.   The announcement came from USRN’s VP/Affiliate Relations, Dan Brassem at the company’s New York headquarters.

In November 2009, United Stations and Broadcast Architecture announced a multi-year agreement for United Stations to handle the domestic affiliate relations and advertising sales for the BA’s programming, including their 24/7 formats.    The Smooth AC concept was first introduced by Broadcast Architecture a few years ago and was quickly adopted by several radio stations, then offering the Smooth Jazz format.  BA’s latest incarnation of SMOOTH AC is newly customized for today’s PPM-driven marketplace, offering a vocal driven, hit based format that targets women 25-54 and is designed specifically to be THE PPM friendly adult radio format.  Sleeker will also oversee the marketing efforts for BA’s successful Smooth Jazz Network®, with programs heard in over 30 markets worldwide.

Tom Sleeker is a 27-year radio veteran, having programmed radio stations in Little Rock, Richmond, Minneapolis, and  Detroit where he’s been for the last fourteen years.   While at CBS Radio’s WVMV-FM in Detroit, Sleeker guided the radio station to a number one rank with 25-54 adults and regularly had the Smooth Jazz station rank in the top 5 among adults.   Tom is a four-time nominee for Program Director of the year by Radio & Records and this is his first move to the program supplier side of the radio industry.  Tom Sleeker is can be reached at (805) 719-2805 or at  tomsleeker@unitedstations.com.

Regarding Sleeker’s appointment, USRN’s Brassem said, “Tom is not only completely knowledgeable about the formats on which he’ll be working, but he’s one of the really good guys in radio, and that’s a great combination for someone representing the programming to fellow PD’s.”   Broadcast Architecture President Allen Kepler shared, “We are very excited to have Tom joining our talented team. He brings enthusiasm for our products and incredible programming experience to share.”   Tom Sleeker added, “It's going to be a pleasure to be working with all the pros at United Stations and Broadcast Architecture.  We accomplished great things together in Detroit, and I look forward to helping stations across the country find programming solutions with our Smooth AC Networks."
