New York, NY - January 06, 2006 -- United Stations Radio Networks, Inc. (USRN), an independent leader in the creation and marketing of network radio programming, has announced the renewal of its production agreement with Massachusetts-based
KMS Productions for its two-hour, weekly Classic Rock program titled
The Classics. KMS has agreed to a multi-year extension of its arrangement by which the independent company will continue to provide access to its audio archives, research, writing and other creative services on a year-round basis for the program. The extension of the deal was announced by Andy Denemark, USRN's EVP/Programming.
Each week,
The Classics provides affiliates and listeners with two-hours of thematically programmed Classic Rock hosted by WDRV/Chicago morning personality
Steve Downes.
The Classics provides vivid accounts of particular artists, events, genres or influences that helped shape a generation of rock music. This artist-driven, music-intensive series features many rare and exclusive interviews with the most important artists in the Classic Rock format.
The Classics is produced by USRN in association with KMS Productions.
United Stations oversees network functions for
The Classics including affiliate relations, distribution and advertising sales, working closely on the creative content with show producer and writer Kathleen Spencer of KMS Productions. First quarter highlights of The Classics include the "6th Annual Classic Rock Awards Nominees" show, a rare and extensive interview with vocalist
Steve Perry of
Journey who offers an insider's look at "Arena Rock of the 70s" as well as a poignant "
George Harrison Tribute" which airs just prior to the former Beatle's February 24th birthday.
At United Stations, Denemark says the renewal is an exciting one for the company because, "There seems to an endless appetite for the music that we call Classic Rock, so from current tours and DVD releases to the great moments in history, we get to cover it all on this series. We look forward to continuing our successful relationship with Kathleen Spencer and KMS Productions." Spencer, a veteran writer, interviewer and producer for radio, television and print began her career as one of the original members of the MTV production team. She has been writing and producing
The Classics since its inception in January 2000.
In addition to
The Classics, United Stations Radio Networks Classic Rock programming includes daily prep from The Launch Radio Networks as well as the fully-produced programs
