New York, NY – August 1st, 2007 – Launch Radio Networks, a division of the United Stations Radio Networks, Inc., today announced that it has changed its name and expanded its affiliate offerings under the new name
Pulse Content. Among the product lines of the newly named programming division is the nation’s leading morning show prep service, which will now be known as The Pulse of Radio. The Pulse of Radio will continue to provide a wide array of syndicated music and entertainment news and interviews to radio stations ranging across all music genres and formats nationwide. United Stations Chairman and CEO Nicholas J. Verbitsky made this announcement today in New York City.
In addition to the prep service, two other enhanced offerings will make up the Pulse Content menu of services. Pulse Web Content is the new name of a new media product that supplies entertainment news content to the websites of affiliated stations, in order to help generate web traffic on their branded sites. Additionally, Pulse Alerts is a new line of news bulletins available to affiliates for interactive and branded text messaging. All three products will be offered under the new moniker of Pulse Content (
www.pulsecontent.com), and the division will be led by Pulse Content Senior Director of Operations, Dave Ankers.
The former Launch Radio Networks was acquired from Yahoo!, Inc. in January, 2003, after which United Stations took ownership of all of the assets pertaining to the LAUNCH Radio Networks business and assumed all network responsibilities related its editorial output, affiliate relations, and advertising sales. The Launch name had continued under a licensing agreement with Yahoo!, but according to Verbitsky, the time had come to evolve the division into the next phase. “We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve done in the past with the Launch product, and no one in the entertainment prep or music news business dedicates the kind of resources we do on a daily basis. Now, with a new delineation of products, a new management structure and new branding, we’re ready for the next phase content partnerships with our affiliates and other new media outlets.”
The Pulse of Radio will continue to provide thirteen (13) different format-driven services among its offerings, and genre-specific content is gathered daily in the following formats: AC, Hot AC, Alternative Rock, CHR, Classic Rock, Country, Entertainment News, Comedy, Oldies, Smooth Jazz, News/Talk, Latin Pop and Urban. There is also an additional service dedicated to international clients that provides the best of the American formats as a global service.
Pulse Content will continue to operate its news bureaus in New York, Los Angeles and Nashville, and will continue to cover award shows, pop culture happenings and other major news and sporting events wherever they occur. Satellite radio tours, one of the most popular offerings of the division, will continue to bring stars from all walks of life as well as prominent newsmakers to affiliates coast to coast from virtually anywhere.
The parent company of Pulse Content is the United Stations Radio Networks, Inc., an industry leader in original network radio programming and the nation's largest independently owned and operated radio network. The company currently distributes and produces multiple format specific services to nearly 4,000 rated radio stations across the country including Adult Contemporary, Album Rock, Contemporary Hit, Country, News, Oldies, Smooth Jazz, Sports, Talk and Urban. The New York-based company was founded in 1994 by radio pioneers Dick Clark and Nick Verbitsky.
